James Butler Hickock (Wild Bill Hickock) was shot by Jack McCall during a Poker game in Deadwood, South Dakota on Aug 2 1876, he was holding a pair of aces with a pair of Eights. The term ‘Dead Man’s Hand’ comes from this incident.
