Napalm is a mixture of a gelling agent and petroleum or a similar fuel for use in an incendiary device and was used during WWII and the Korean war, but its employment as the prime incendiary during the Vietnam war was widely protested and the major manufacturer of this Dow Chemicals was picketed and boycotted by the members of the Anti-Vietnam movement. 
Napalm is an acronym from which the product is made i.e. napthenic & palmtic acids.
