Doolin(l) and Herman Lay (r)

Back in the 60’s

Herman W Lay used a model A Ford to sell his snack food, potato chips. Charles Elmer Doolin opted for a model T for his product, corn chips through his company Frito. Both started their business with $100 loan each. These two snack companies merged in 1961 to form a winner brand ‘Frito-Lay’. In 1965, Frito-Lay merged with the Pepsi Cola Company resulting in the formation of PepsiCo. Since that time, Frito-Lay has been wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo.
